Biofeedback

Electrodes/sensors are attached to your skin which then sends a signal to a monitor, which will either display a sound, light, or image in an easy to understand way for children to observe their bodies. The signal that is being monitored can be breathing, heart rate, body temperature, skin response, muscle tension and quality of body movements.

Benefits of Biofeedback:
  • Improve motor control and the ability to help learn what recruitment is needed to turn a muscle on or off effectively
  • Reducing muscle tension
  • Calming feelings of medical and everyday stresses
  • Promoting brain waves to enhance calming and focusing

Biofeedback uses different techniques such as videos, images, breathing techniques and muscle relaxation. The goal is to teach children how to control their bodies and/or specific muscle groups on their own in instances of stress or pain.
